School Planning

Stanford is in the process of designing a school focused on climate and sustainability — a decision that came out of a multi-year process that engaged faculty, students, alumni, and staff in thinking about how Stanford can maximize our scholarship, education, and impact in this critical area.

A 30-member Blueprint Advisory Committee (BAC members, SUNetID required)) — composed of faculty from all seven schools, five policy institutes and SLAC — has been meeting since fall 2020 to design a school focused on what Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne called “among the most urgent issues of our time,” — the challenge of addressing climate change and of creating a sustainable future for people and our planet.

The BAC’s recommendations will go to university leadership in the spring and summer and will inform the announcement of a final blueprint for the school.
